L-Glutamine is one of twenty naturally occurring amino acids found in protein and is classified as a conditional amino acid meaning that the body can produce it however it uses it in larger amounts than it can be produced in. Around 60% of skeletal muscle is composed of glutamine and low levels can induce a catabolic effect in the body, signaling it to use muscle tissue for energy rather than carbohydrates. L-Glutamine is typically supplemented for either gut and digestive health or for its ability to promote muscle growth and decrease muscle wasting. L-Glutamine is important for gut health as it is the major fuel source for cells of the small intestine, having plenty available allows these cells to function at their best. L-Glutamine also helps support results from resistance training, as it helps repair the damage to muscles induced by lifting weights and improves muscle hydration.

Recommended Usage

As a dietary supplement, we recommend taking one 5 gram serving per day ideally on an empty stomach. If eating a very low protein diet or eating at a significant caloric deficit this dosage can be increased to two 5 gram servings per day but we don’t recommend exceeding this dosage.
