White Willow Bark extract is a supplement naturally prepared from the bark of the white willow tree. The main ingredient in White Willow Bark supplements is salicins, which are similar but milder than the salicylic acid that is the main active ingredient in aspirin. While milder, white willow bark has similar properties and is mainly used to help relieve minor aches and pains.

Double Wood’s White Willow Bark supplement is standardized to 15% salicins, and contains numerous polyphenols and flavonoids which have antioxidant properties.

For relief of minor aches and pains, we recommend using two capsules (800 mg) per day with or without food.

While White Willow Bark is well tolerated and unlikely to cause side effects when taken at the recommended dosage, it can cause issues when exceeding the recommended dosage. The most common side effects include digestive upset or itchy skin, but salicin can exacerbate bleeding disorders and kidney damage so this product should not be used by those with those conditions.

White Willow Bark can potentiate beta blockers and diuretics so caution should be taken when combining it with these medications. White Willow Bark should also not be taken with aspirin as the active ingredient in aspirin is similar but more potent to that in White Willow Bark.
