Description

Bovine colostrum is a milky liquid which is produced by cows during the first few days after giving birth and before true milk appears. This fluid is different than true milk and is richer in nutrients, growth factors, and immune boosting compounds known as immunoglobulins. Colostrum supplements are taken for a variety of benefits including supporting digestive and immune health, promoting cognitive function, and promoting bone health.

Double Wood’s bovine colostrum supplement uses colostrum only obtained from the first post-calf milking and is standardized to 15% immunoglobulins. Only grass-fed cow colostrum is used in this product as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much IgG is in Double Wood’s Colostrum Capsules?

Double Wood’s Bovine Colostrum Capsules provide 1,000 mg of bovine colostrum per serving, standardized to 15% IgG. That means each serving provides at least 150 mg of IgG immunoglobulins. The capsule COA confirms a tested result of 156.6 mg IgG against a specification of ≥150 mg per serving, using a third-party HPLC method. This makes the capsule format a convenient daily option for customers who want colostrum with a clearly stated IgG amount.

What’s the difference between 15% IgG and higher-percentage colostrum products?

The percentage tells you how concentrated the IgG portion is, but the more important comparison is total IgG per serving. A 15% IgG colostrum product at a 1,000 mg serving provides about 150 mg IgG. Higher-percentage products may provide more IgG in fewer grams, but they are not automatically better unless the actual IgG milligrams, serving size, sourcing, and testing are clear. Double Wood lists both the colostrum amount and IgG amount so customers can compare accurately.

What is grass-fed, first-milking colostrum and why does it matter?

Grass-fed, first-milking colostrum refers to colostrum collected from grass-fed cows during the earliest post-calving milking window. This matters because first-milking colostrum is naturally rich in immunoglobulins, proteins, and growth factors compared with regular milk. For shoppers comparing colostrum supplements, “first-milking” and “IgG per serving” are two of the most useful quality signals because they help separate standardized colostrum products from generic bovine colostrum claims.

How much bovine colostrum should I take?

We reccomend taking one two capsule serving (1000 mg colostrum, 150 mg immunoglobulins) per day, with or without food.

How does colostrum compare to lactoferrin or whey protein?

Colostrum, lactoferrin, and whey protein are all dairy-derived, but they serve different purposes. Colostrum is valued for its broad mix of immunoglobulins, including IgG, plus naturally occurring proteins and growth factors. Lactoferrin is a more targeted milk protein often used for immune and iron-binding support. Whey protein is mainly used to increase dietary protein intake. If your goal is IgG and immune-gut support, colostrum is the more directly relevant choice.

Is Double Wood Colostrum third-party tested?

Yes. Every batch is third-party tested by an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory for identity, IgG content, heavy metals, and microbial safety. The bovine colostrum source is verified for identity by HPLC, and immunoglobulin G (IgG) content is quantified by radial immunodiffusion (RID) — the published-research standard for measuring active immune compounds in colostrum. The full COA panel also covers four heavy metals via ICP-MS (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury against USP <2232> limits) and six microbial screens (Total Plate Count, Yeast & Mold, Coliform, E. coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus per USP and AOAC methods). Manufactured in a cGMP-certified U.S. facility.

What does the Colostrum Certificate of Analysis confirm?

The COA verifies bovine colostrum content and IgG concentration per serving: each serving delivers 150 mg of IgG (immunoglobulin G) standardized to 15%, the marker compound used in published clinical research on colostrum's gut and immune effects. Identity is confirmed against bovine colostrum reference material. Heavy metals: arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury all verified below USP <2232> daily-intake limits via ICP-MS. Microbial counts within USP and AOAC specifications; E. coli, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus aureus confirmed Absent. The current batch COA is linked above for verification against the lot number on your bottle.
