Glycine is an amino acid and neurotransmitter which can be produced by the body to some degree but is primarily obtained through diet and is found in protein rich foods such as meat, dairy, and legumes.
While Glycine plays a number of roles in the body, it is typically used as a supplement to improve sleep quality where in numerous studies it was shown to improve both people’s self-reports of sleep quality and reductions in next-day fatigue. In addition to its use for sleep, Glycine is also occasionally used to support liver and kidney health.
We recommend taking 1000 mg – 2000 mg (2-4 capsules) of Glycine per day on an empty stomach. If using Glycine to improve sleep quality, take the full day’s dose 1-2 hours before going to sleep. We do not recommend exceeding a dosage of 5000 mg (10 capsules) per day.
Glycine is very well tolerated and most customers experience no side effects, especially when using it at normal doses. Occasionally nausea, upset stomach, and drowsiness are reported as side effects.
