HMB (Hydroxy Methyl Butyric acid) is a metabolite of the amino acid leucine, and is naturally synthesized in the human body. Studies have shown that HMB plays a key role in protein synthesis, a process that is important to the addition and maintenance of lean muscle tissue.

When taken as a supplement, studies have shown that HMB can both promote the addition of new muscle mass and slow the loss of muscle mass that occurs when eating at a caloric deficit.

Recommended Dosage

Take two 500 mg capsules per day while participating in a strength training program in order to aid in muscle growth when eating at a caloric surplus, and to maintain muscle mass when eating at a caloric deficit.

HMB Side Effects

HMB supplementation is non-toxic and causes no adverse side effects. Studies have found its use to be completely safe at daily doses of up to 3 grams, and higher doses are suspected to be safe as well.

I took a two week vacation and used this stuff the entire time. My lifts didn't go down at all when I was back in the gym. Usually they do.
Actually does preserve muscle, I barely lose anything if I take this while cutting
I feel like this HMB is helping me finish out the last couple weeks of my cut. I'm able to really dial in my diet and not worry about losing any muscle down the home stretch. It's no miracle product, but it's a great addition to anybody's cut.
HMB was first thought to be a miracle, then discounted, but the truth is, it works, though you do need to take considerably more than the recommended dosage.
I had to do a road trip so no gym for a few days. I took this twice a day 2 in morning and 2 at night. On my return to the gym I didn't feel the need to drop my weights but I did feel weaker after my workout. I think it helped. I'm a hard gainer so I'm also taking this to supplement on days when I know I'm not eating enough to hopefully stave off catabolism.
I’ve tried HMB both while bulking and cutting as I’ve read research that states it helps both gain and preserve muscle. I didn’t notice any real difference when bulking… if it did help its effects were very subtle. When cutting on the other hand, I’ve found it to be very useful. My numbers went down a little bit as always when cutting, but with HMB they decreased at a much slower rate. Where normally I can tell that I’ve lost muscle during a cut, when using HMB it seems like I only lose fat.
I'll be the first to say this stuff works. My recovery time is unbelievable. Seems like it only takes one day after a very intense work out.
