o SUPPORTS GUT HEALTH – L-Glutamine supports the health of the gut and intestinal walls and promotes healthy functioning of digestive processes.
o SUPPORTS RESISTANCE TRAINING – L-Glutamine promotes muscle growth and supports a reduction in muscle wasting, making it an effective supplement for supporting resistance training.
o SUPPORTS METABOLIC HEALTH – Studies have shown L-Glutamine supplementation can promote an increase in resting metabolic rate and promote post-exercise EPOC.
o MADE IN THE USA - Our L-Glutamine is made in the USA at a cGMP certified facility.
L-Glutamine is one of twenty naturally occurring amino acids found in protein and is classified as a conditional amino acid meaning that the body can produce it however it uses it in larger amounts than it can be produced in. Around 60% of skeletal muscle is composed of glutamine and low levels can induce a catabolic effect in the body, signaling it to use muscle tissue for energy rather than carbohydrates.
L-Glutamine is typically supplemented for either gut and digestive health or for its ability to promote muscle growth and decrease muscle wasting. L-Glutamine is important for gut health as it is the major fuel source for cells of the small intestine, having plenty available allows these cells to function at their best. L-Glutamine also helps support results from resistance training, as it helps repair the damage to muscles induced by lifting weights and improves muscle hydration.
As a dietary supplement, we recommend taking one 5 gram serving per day ideally on an empty stomach. If eating a very low protein diet or eating at a significant caloric deficit this dosage can be increased to two 5 gram servings per day but we don’t recommend exceeding this dosage.
L-Glutamine is safe and well tolerated when taken as a supplements in moderate dosages, and side effects are very rare when the total daily dosage is under 20 grams. These side effects include nausea, vomiting, hives and dizziness. If these side effects are experienced at low doses we recommend ceasing to use the supplement as their presence may indicate an allergic reaction.
L-Glutamine should not be supplemented by those with kidney disease, liver disease, or cancer unless directed to use it by a physician as these conditions can impact how amino acids like L-Glutamine are absorbed.
