Irish Moss is a highly nutritious plant which contains high levels of Vitamins A, E, F, and K as well as calcium, potassium, sulfur, and iodine. Irish Moss became popular historically during the Irish Potato Famine due to its high nutrient density becoming more important than its less than stellar taste as a food, and is now becoming popular again for use in supplements as a nutrient dense superfood.
Our Irish Moss Extract is a nutrient dense extract from the moss itself causing a high concentration of nutrients in each gummy. Double Wood’s Irish Moss Extract is a great alternative to synthetic multivitamins in a great tasting gummy form.
Our Irish Moss Gummies also contain bladderwrack and burdock root to improve absorption, if you want just pure Irish Moss Extract please see our single ingredient capsule form here (https://doublewoodsupplements.com/products/irish-moss-extract).
As a supplement we recommend taking two gummies of Irish Sea Moss per day for a total dosage of 1750 mg. While a higher dose can be taken without issue we don’t recommend exceeding four gummies or 3500 mg per day as side effects are more likely at high doses.
Irish Moss Extract is very well tolerated with few side effects, mainly GI discomfort or diarrhea, but it should be avoided in a few specific circumstances.
The largest risk and source of side effects if using Irish Moss Extract is from getting too much iodine. While this is unlikely for most people using it at recommended dosages, if you commonly take other supplements which include Iodine you may want to skip the Irish Moss Extract.
Irish Moss Extract also has mild anticoagulant properties, so it should be avoided by people taking blood thinners, with high blood pressure, or bleeding diseases.
